SERVICE PROCESS

TOTAL QUALITY CONTROL

WHAT IS A QC CERTIFICATE AND QUALITY CONTROL?
Quality control — after repair or maintenance, all lenses are thoroughly tested and inspected by the quality control department before being returned to the owner.
QC-Certificate is issued for the result of equipment maintenance at your request.
It contains detailed technical information on the condition of mechanical and optical assemblies, electronic components, as well as a complete report on optical deviations.
Compliance with factory and operational specifications.

PRICES AND DESCRIPTIONS

General conditions and recommendations

THE MOST POPULAR PROBLEMS
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Sharpness is absent or sometimes disappears
Occurs due to a shift in the optical axis. In most cases, the cause can be a displacement of the front or rear lens, but sometimes this defect occurs due to incorrect adjustment of internal, mechanical components. Internal movable optical blocks have a very complex and precise mechanics, the slightest deviation in which leads to a loss of sharpness and other complications.
No infinity or scale does not match actual distance
This phenomenon occurs due to an incorrect rear section of the lens (52 mm for a common PL mount) or an incorrectly set focal scale. Tilting the trailing edge up or down by even 20 microns can have a great effect on sharpness when hovering at infinity. It also does not match all lens focal lengths.
Dust on the internal lenses
It occurs as a result of long-term operation without service or as a result of operation in a dusty and aggressive environment. It is only possible to completely remove dust from the lens surface with the help of a statically discharged air stream. During operation, intensive air circulation occurs inside each lens, which leads to the movement of fine dust fractions between the optical units.
Contamination of the inside or outside surface of the lens.
Often occurs in working conditions in areas with a special climate, high humidity or low temperature. Also, if smoke machines are working on the site, a thin glycerin layer can be processed on the surface of the lenses, which is almost impossible to wash off on its own. This requires special, highly pure chemical components that are not capable of damaging the lens coating.
Scratch and chipping on the front or rear lens
In most cases, small chips, scratches on the lens surface are visible only in backlighting. Coating of the lens also often deteriorates and is covered with small scratches. In all cases, getting rid of this problem is possible only by replacing the lens.
LDS does not work
LDS (Lens Data System) protocol of communication between a lens and a camera. Data is transmitted through a 4-pin port on the lens. For the LDS to work correctly, this port must be correctly installed relative to the mount and special shims of a certain thickness are used to align it.
Incorrect LDS readings
If the camera reads the LDS values incorrectly, it is necessary to perform its software calibration. For this, the LDS Calibrator MARK II software and hardware complex is used. After calibration, the new data is written to the lens.
Damage or deformation of body elements
As a rule, the cause is a strong physical impact such as shock or pressure. Deformation of the outer elements of the housing is easy enough to correct. If the deformation is formed on the same elements as MAINUNIT or HELICOID, then it will be very difficult to fix it even on special very precise equipment. Our recommendation is always exchange damaged spares.
Aperture, focus or zoom ring is hard move
Difficult operation of the rings almost always occurs due to poor lubrication inside the mechanical assemblies. But sometimes this defect appears after impact and deformation of the ring. Better to run diagnostics and understand the source of the problem.
